Jennifer Finger is a certified nurse midwife and currently sees patients at Western OB/GYN, A Division of Ridgeview Clinics, at its Waconia and Chaska locations. She specializes in low-risk labor and birth. “My approach to patient care was greatly influenced by the positive, caring and intuitive support I received during the birth of my own children,” said Jennifer. “With each birth, my midwife worked with me to implement a birthing plan that honored my choices and was by my side throughout the birthing process. I offer that same personalized care for my own patients today,” she added.
Jennifer practices midwifery from a holistic point of view—caring for the entire person. She supports integrative therapies such as acupuncture, essential oils and chiropractic care—and additional support the patient wishes to integrate into their regular medical care. “Childbirth is truly a transformative journey for a woman and her family, and a part of their story forever,” said Jennifer. “A woman should be supported in planning and completing her own story.”
Jennifer believes her role as a midwife is to provide evidenced-based care and education, so women can make informed choices regarding their health care and birth process. Although most patients are first introduced to Jennifer as a prenatal patient, Jennifer values each patient relationship and caring for women throughout their lifetime—beyond childbirth. Jennifer has special interest in well-woman care from adolescence through menopause, water births, holistic care and integrative therapies.
