Bryan M. Pelka, MD

Specialties:

Psychiatry

Bryan Pelka, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist who sees patients for a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD and all other general psychiatric conditions.

Dr. Pelka strives to work with patients as an active contributor to their treatment plan, prioritizing their greatest concerns and providing education on the purpose and risks of all treatment options. This approach helps build a solid foundation for managing conditions that can often lead to feeling a loss of control and significant uncertainty. He believes that treatment is a collaboration between the goals and personal experiences of a patient and the professional expertise of the provider. He welcomes open and honest communication in both directions to approach the shared goal of improvement.

Dr. Pelka was inspired to be a provider through his early love of the sciences and his desire to translate that into a career that lets him benefit others. He served in the US Navy for 15 years, seven as a practicing psychiatrist.

Favorite wellness tip: When feeling overwhelmed by a task or responsibility, break it down into the smaller tasks that need to be done to achieve the larger one. Keep doing so until the first step is something that feels doable. A dozen achievable tasks done one at a time is often going to get the job done more efficiently and with less stress than trying to tackle the whole thing at once.
