Accredited Diabetes Education
Accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), the Ridgeview Regional Diabetes Education Collaborative educates patients, families and the surrounding communities about improving health while living with diabetes. Ridgeview provides knowledge and skills to help patients modify behaviors and successfully self-manage diabetes and related conditions.
Patients newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are eligible for 10 hours of education, covered by Medicare and insurance companies. Patients meet with Ridgeview’s team of certified diabetes educators to receive comprehensive advice and design lifestyle strategies to help you continue enjoying the things you love while effectively managing your diabetes.
Ridgeview provides a 4-class series taught most months of the year in which patients are taught diabetes self-management skills including meal planning (CHO counting, eating out, use of alcohol, fats and salts), exercising, use of medications, blood glucose monitoring, motivational strategies, goals for long-term management and recommended follow-up with their health care team. After the initial year, most insurances cover 2 diabetes education visits a year after any deductibles are satisfied.
