COVID-19 testing restrictions effective March 17, 2020

Due to a national shortage of COVID-19 test kits and MN Dept. of Health guidelines, Ridgeview and other Minnesota hospitals are restricting COVID-19 testing to patients admitted or needing admission to one of its hospitals and patients from skilled nursing facilities.

Ridgeview and other health care providers want to be sure patients receive the right care in the right location. Based on your symptoms, you may not need to come to a hospital or clinic. If you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 – fever, cough, shortness of breath – stay home and call your clinic.

  • Your provider will work with you to determine whether you should be tested for COVID-19 and may only recommend testing if you meet certain criteria.
  • You may be asked to self-quarantine at home for 7 days after onset of symptoms, or 72 hours after fever resolves without fever-reducing medications) and improvement of respiratory, and monitor your symptoms at the direction of your provider.
