Free Active Aging Month community presentation
Author Dick Edwards to present ‘Mom, Dad … Can We Talk?’ program at Ridgeview on May 30
In support of Active Aging Month, community residents are invited to attend a free presentation by speaker and author Dick Edwards on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Ridgeview Community Auditorium, 500 South Maple Street, Waconia. Edwards is the author of Mom, Dad…Can We Talk? Insight and Perspectives to Help Us Do What’s Best for Our Aging Parents With more than 5,000 copies sold, Edwards’ book speaks clearly to individuals dealing with the issues and concerns of their aging parents. He is presenting at Ridgeview as part of the All’s Well Waconia initiative and Active Aging Month celebration in May.
Edwards has 40 years of experience working closely with older adults and their families. For the last 20 years of his career, he served as administrator of Charter House, a nationally recognized model of excellence in retirement living and long-term health care, affiliated with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Edwards has shared his presentation with adult children across the country, and to professionals in service to older persons and their families.
He earned his Baccalaureate from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and his Masters from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. He and his wife, Pat, live in west central Wisconsin, and have three adult children and six grandchildren.
About All’s Well Waconia and Active Aging Month
The mission of the Waconia Active Aging Month is to highlight local level wellness events that promote taking personal responsibility for one’s health: physically, socially, (financially) or mentally. This month-long series of events is designed to focus attention on the positive aspects of growing older. These events include free fitness classes, cooking and nutrition programs, educational presentations and other activities.
