Medica continues expansion of ACO offerings in Minnesota: Lakeview Clinic added to Ridgeview Connect with Medica ACO
Minnetonka, Minn. – Medica recently announced that Lakeview Clinic, Ltd. has been added to Ridgeview Connect with Medica, an accountable care organization (ACO) product offered through My Plan by Medica.
In 2012, Medica was the first health plan in the region to align with health care systems to develop ACO products; introducing Ridgeview Connect with Medica as a health plan option for its members in the west metro area. Lakeview Clinic has locations in Waconia, Chaska, Norwood and Watertown. With more than 50 health care providers, the addition of Lakeview Clinic expands the geographic reach of Ridgeview Connect.
Ridgeview Connect with Medica is offered on Medica's private exchange, My Plan by Medica.
Access to Lakeview Clinic will be available for new and renewing groups beginning Jan. 1, 2014.
“We are pleased to add Lakeview Clinic to Ridgeview Connect with Medica,” said Scott Reid, Medica’s vice president of product strategy and development for commercial markets. “This addition brings together the primary care groups of Ridgeview Clinics, Lakeview Clinic, Wayzata Children’s Clinic and Western OB/GYN to provide our west metro members with broader geographic coverage and extensive access to low cost, high quality personalized care.”
According to Michael Phelps, chief administrative officer, Ridgeview Medical Center, “Ridgeview is excited to welcome our Lakeview partners to the Ridgeview Connect network team. We have a long history of working together, and have a shared commitment to improve the access to and delivery of affordable care to the people who live and work in the west metro,”
Nearly 25,000 members are enrolled in My Plan by Medica. When offered an ACO option, 42 percent of members choose to receive their care through one. “This high enrollment rate demonstrates that consumers value the unique service approach and access to integrated health care provided by ACOs,” said Reid. “It also shows that employers recognize that ACOs provide them the ability to better manage healthcare costs.”
Serving about 1.5 million members, Medica is a health insurance company headquartered in Minneapolis and active in the Upper Midwest. The non-profit company provides health care coverage in the employer, individual, Medicaid, Medicare and Medicare Part D markets in Minnesota and a growing number of counties in North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Medica also offers national network coverage to employers who also have employees outside the Medica regional network.
Medica’s vision is to become the community’s health plan of choice, trusted for its integrity, respected for its service, and admired for its commitment to innovation and efficiency.
