Sports Medicine

Services
A reputation for excellence and extraordinary service.

Sports Medicine

Our sports medicine consultants are certified athletic trainers (ATCs) and/or physical therapists (PTs) who are trained as First Responders. These specialists work closely with your physician to provide the athletic care you need, when you need it. We provide sports rehab for athletes of all ages and abilities.

Our sports medicine consultants provide post-surgical rehabilitation, care and treatment for all sport-related injuries. They provide evaluations and recommendations that emphasize treatment, education and, ultimately, the prevention of future injury.

The Sports Medicine Program currently provides free in-clinic sports injury consultations, injury clinics and event coverage at many local academic institutions.

Sports Injury Consultations
This is a one-time evaluation of your orthopedic condition. With this service the individual will meet with one of our certified athletic trainers for an initial assessment, be given exercise instruction, and/or possible referral or follow-up care recommendations. This service is FREE to athletes at any of our contracted schools and $35 for other individuals. To schedule an appointment, just call any of our Ridgeview Rehab Specialties Clinics listed below.

Clinic Locations: Waconia, Chanhassen, Chaska, Delano and Westonka.

Injury Care for Athletes
Ridgeview has devised a program to help athletes reduce pain, treat minor injuries and improve recovery time between workouts. Injury Care for Athletes is a group-rehab setting; however, your program will be tailored to fit your injury needs.

You will see an athletic trainer for part of your care and will perform additional rehab independently. Using our unique blend of sports medicine equipment to help you recover quickly, you can increase muscle strength, power, agility, balance, coordination and, ultimately, improve your overall athletic performance. Some injuries may require further testing or one-on-one rehab. In this case, we will refer you to a PT who specializes in sports medicine.

Of course, not all injuries can be prevented, but you can improve your recovery time when you’re feeling the pain caused by one. Contact Ridgeview Rehab Specialties; we will partner with you, your parents and your coach through all your sports medicine needs.

ImPACT Concussion Recognition and Management Program
ImPACT is a computer-based neuro-cognitive assessment to aid in concussion management. ImPACT helps in assessing a head injury by offering objective measurements on reaction time, memory and other symptoms. This system can be purchased per school through the sports medicine contract or parents can bring athletes in for this self-pay service.

Injury Aftercare
Transition from physical therapy to more advanced functional and sport-specific skills for a safe return to participation after injury or surgery. The following is a list of benefits with this service:

  • Individualized 1:1 training based on patient’s fitness level and demands of their sport(s)
  • Emphasis on sport-specific activities including: agility, plyometrics, strength, development of neuromuscular recruitment and balance, per your doctor’s recommendations
  • Sessions directed by certified athletic trainer
  • Instruction in proper mechanics and technique

FREE Saturday Morning Athletic Injury Clinic

The purpose of this service is to get athletes more timely care for their injury and help eliminate the inconvenience to parents, especially those who need to schedule appointments early in the week or have to take time away from work.

If an athlete gets injured at a Friday night game, let our qualified staff determine what next steps the athlete can take, so he or she can return to their sport as soon as possible. Certified athletic trainers and an orthopedic physician will be on staff to provide care.

This is a FREE service unless the athlete is referred to his or her family physician or chooses to stay at Ridgeview and have imaging performed per the orthopedist’s recommendation.
