Summary:
The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of an investigational drug when compared to the placebo, an inactive substance in subjects who have irritable bowel syndrome with chronic constipation.
Study Length:
The study will last up to 23 weeks, with nine visits.
Inclusion:
- Men and women 18 years of age and older
- Subject has abdominal pain and discomfort
- Subject has less than three bowel movements in a week
Exclusion:
- Subjects who are unable to provide self care or are bedridden
- Subjects with unexplained weight loss
- Subjects with stomach or intestinal diseases
- Subjects with kidney or liver disease
