Chemical Peel
What Happens During a Chemical Peel?
Most chemical peels take approximately 30 minutes. During that time, we will apply a specially formulated chemical solution to your skin. This will be left on for only a few minutes and will accelerate the shedding of your dead skin cells and stimulate the production of new ones. Most people experience a warm or tingling sensation during the application and up to 10 minutes afterward. We will often combine a chemical peel with a microdermabrasion or Javani® treatment for enhanced exfoliation and hydration.
What Can I Expect After the Treatment?
Reactions to chemical peels are similar to a sunburn; generally the deeper the peel, the longer the recovery. Mild redness and peeling is common and can last up to four days from a light peel. Most light chemical peels require no downtime, and you may resume normal activities immediately afterward. Mineral makeup may also be applied immediately following the procedure.
With a medium or deep chemical peel, however, makeup is not recommended until healing is complete. Peeling and redness are very common. Use a nonabrasive cleanser and do not scrub the skin. It is important not to pick off the shedding skin, as this may cause infection and/or scarring.
Your skin will feel tighter, smoother and perhaps more dry than it felt prior to the peel. Following any skin peel, it is important that you avoid exposure to the sun, as your new skin will be very sensitive. Always apply broad spectrum (UVA and UVB blocking) sun protection with an SPF of 20 or higher, about 15 or 20 minutes before you go outside. Your provider will advise you of proper care instructions to ensure the most optimal results.

Microdermabrasion
What Happens During the Procedure?
Microdermabrasion physically removes top layers of dead skin and creates immediate improvement in your skin’s appearance. This professional exfoliation treatment can soften fine lines and help reduce age spots, superficial acne scars and stretch marks. Skin texture is unbelievably improved.
Microdermabrasion usually lasts 30 to 45 minutes and requires no downtime, which is ideal for people with busy schedules. Mild suction to the surface of your skin removes the top layer of dead skin cells. This allows skin care products to be absorbed more effectively.
What Can I Expect After the Treatment?
No recovery time is required. After your first treatment, you will notice a healthy pink glow to your skin. You may apply mineral makeup immediately and resume normal activities. Your skin will appear softer, smoother and younger looking. Fine lines and age spots will be less visible. Superficial acne scars will also soften in time. To protect your new skin, you must wear an SPF of at least 20, as skin will be more sensitive to sun damage for the next week or two. A series of treatments, spaced seven to 10 days apart, is usually recommended to achieve the best results.
