Ridgeview responds to news of fungal meningitis
In the news: Media has recently reported a link between a steroid commonly used in epidural injections, called methylprednisolone, to numerous cases of fungal meningitis. The drug in question was compounded by a specialty compounding pharmacy (NECC) and distributed to clinics and medical centers across the United States, including several clinics in Minnesota.
Ridgeview Medical Center has never purchased this medication from NECC; Ridgeview obtains all of the medications given as epidural injections from pharmaceutical manufacturers, not from a compounding pharmacy.
