Employee Benefits: Continuing the Tradition of Ridgeview Excellence

To help recruit and retain quality employees, Ridgeview Medical Center has developed an attractive and comprehensive benefits package that can assist employees in reaching their lifetime goals: to save for retirement, grow through professional development, care for themselves and their families with quality medical and dental coverage, obtain disability coverage and more.

Ridgeview also considers that work/life balance is important to most. To help our employees attain this balance, Ridgeview offers benefits to full-time employees working 80 hours per biweekly pay period as well as part-time employees who work 48 or more hours per pay period or are in a flex position working 32 to 56 hours per pay period.

Benefit-eligible employees can participate in a variety of benefit plans that include:

  1. Medical Coverage—Choose your deductible and total out-of-pocket expense from one of two “defined contribution” health care plans provided through BlueCross® BlueShield® of Minnesota. You will enjoy a “Health Reimbursement Account” contribution from Ridgeview, a low deductible and then 90 percent/10 percent coverage for in-network services.
  2. Dental Coverage—Together with Delta Dental of Minnesota, Ridgeview provides you with two dental plan options. The basic plan provides you with coverage for various “basic” dental needs and the buy-up plan provides you with the same plus an orthodontic coverage component for dependent children.
  3. Life Insurance for You and Your Family—Ridgeview offers basic life insurance coverage at no cost to all benefit-eligible employees, with coverage of 1.5 times your annual budgeted earnings. You can also choose to purchase supplemental life insurance coverage for yourself, your spouse, and/or your children.
  4. Long-Term Disability Insurance—Ridgeview offers long-term disability benefits at no cost to benefit-eligible employees. The plan will provide income continuance should a disabled employee have to be away from work for 91 days or more.
  5. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)—These plans allow Ridgeview employees to set aside pretax dollars for out-of-pocket child care or health care expenses. The money you set aside for your Health Care Reimbursement Account and/or Dependent Care Reimbursement Account is automatically deducted from your salary on a pretax basis and deposited into your designated account(s). When you use the funds and submit a claim, you will be reimbursed from your account.
  6. 401(k) Plan and 529 College Savings Plan—These voluntary plans can help you to achieve your financial goals and stay in good financial “health.” Our 401(k) plan offers a dollar-for-dollar Ridgeview match of up to five percent of your pretax contributions, as well as an immediate vesting schedule. The 529 College Savings Plan can help individuals save for the cost of higher education. Funds from this account grow tax-free and may be exempt from federal and state taxes when used to pay for post-secondary educational expenses.
  7. Paid Time Off (PTO)—Ridgeview offers a comprehensive PTO package to help our employees attain a work/life balance and maintain an income during times away from work.

In addition to the quality benefits listed above, Ridgeview offers a comprehensive selection of voluntary benefits that can be purchased on an individual basis. These benefits are fully “portable” and paid for via payroll deduction:

  1. Long-Term Care Insurance—provides financial assistance for the expense of a nursing home or long-term care facility.
  2. Critical Illness Insurance—pays an immediate, one-time, lump-sum benefit following diagnosis of a critical illness.
  3. Pre-Paid Legal Insurance—allows you access to a nearby provider law firm that can assist you with legal issues at a discounted rate.
  4. Short-Term Disability—enables you to purchase income continuance during an absence from work from the 8th calendar day of an illness/disability through the 90th day.
  5. Group Universal Life Insurance—allows you to purchase a cash value account with the life insurance option.

Our benefit offerings do not end here; Ridgeview has also established other attractive benefits that can impact our employees positively:

  1. Employee Assistance Program—This confidential, free service is available to employees and their family members who may be experiencing a personal or emotional challenge.
  2. Tuition Reimbursement Program—Ridgeview supports and encourages continuing professional education and development; we will reimburse employees for tuition, fees and books fo approved job-related courses up to a maximum amount per calendar year.
  3. Discounted Hospital Cafeteria Meals—Employees can enjoy discounted meals in the hospital cafeteria; payment can be made via payroll deduction for a convenient and economical meal option.
  4. Discounted Services—Special local entertainment and service discounts are available to Ridgeview employees. These discounts include tickets for Valleyfair, the Renaissance Festival, Muller Family Theaters and more.
