Foundation Board
There are hundreds of people who have donated their time and talents over the years to build bridges between the Foundation and our communities. Volunteers continue to help Ridgeview dream about the possibilities and engage our neighbors by organizing special events and leading new initiatives.

Nancy Bach

Educational and Professional Background: Nancy has a BA International Relations and Economics from University of Southern California and a MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago.
Civic Involvement: She has served on several Boards and has held leadership positions including Endowment Fund Chair, Finance and Investment Chair, Long Term Planning and Nominating Chair. Nancy and husband, Peter, live in Wayzata and have four children. |

Brian Beniek

Profession: 23 years with the Plymouth (Minn.) Police Department, currently a sergeant; president of Beniek Property Services, Inc. (an outdoor property maintenance company)
Educational and Professional Background: BS in Criminal Justice from Bemidji State University. Graduated Northwestern University Staff and Command School.

Dermot Cowley

Town of Residence: Watertown
Profession: Dermot is a 27 year veteran of the hospitality industry. He started as a 14 year old in his parents pub in Drogheda, Co. Louth Ireland, progressing to the high-end, frenetic pace of New York City at the world famous Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse. Dermot has served time in every aspect of the restaurant operations from cook to manager, busboy to bartender. He currently owns O'Donovan's Irish Pub, Jake O’Connor’s and Lola’s Lake House.
Civic Involvement: Dermot currently sits on the Board of the Waconia Chamber of Commerce and was previously on the Irish Fair of Minnesota Board. |

Stacy Desai

Town of Residence: Eden Prairie
Profession: Stacy is the managing partner for Equifinality LLC, a boutique consulting firm, which provides organizational development expertise to service and manufacturing organizations. Additionally, she provides executive coaching and leadership development to individuals. Previously, she worked for St. Jude Medical, where she served internally as an organizational development manager.
Civic Involvement: Stacy chairs the Friends of the Eden Prairie Art Center fundraising group. With a small group of other community volunteers, the team identifies partnership opportunities with local businesses and hosts annual fundraising efforts to broaden the programming of the new art center in Eden Prairie. Her other community service activities include serving as a volunteer mediator for Community Mediation Services in New Hope. She specializes in cases involving juveniles. |

Katherine Forrester, CLU, ChFC

Education and Professional Background: Katherine began her working years as a music therapist at University Good Samaritan Center and professional singer with the Cash family out of Nashville, TN. In 1996, she tested out a pilot program at Northwestern Mutual, providing her with an introduction to the business that she was destined to pursue. She added an investment practice into her business in 1998 and became the IPS leader of her agency in 2008 and remains the leader today. She is the first woman to join The Columns Resource Group and is proud to be a mentor to many.

Fred Green

Profession: Fred is a 30 year professional in the financial services industry and is CEO of Community Bank, a community centered bank serving the southwest metro area.
Educational and Professional Background: Fred graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Agriculture Business.
Civic Involvement: He holds the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst and is a member of the CFA Society of Minnesota. Fred and his wife Robyn have 3 adult children. |

Katherine Hackett, MD

Town of Residence: Excelsior
Profession: Pediatrician at Lakeview Clinic, Ltd. Dr. Hackett is board certified in pediatrics, with special interests in developmental and behavioral pediatrics, learning differences and children with special needs. She was selected as one of the “Top Doctors in the Twin Cities” in the 2007 and 2008 listings as published in Mpls. St. Paul Magazine.
Civic Involvement: Very supportive of Ridgeview Foundation, having hosted special events and spoken at gatherings in support of the Transforming Lives Campaign.

Profession: President of the West Market of KleinBank, the largest privately owned bank in Minnesota. The West Market consists of banks in Waconia, St. Bonifacius, Cologne and Norwood Young America. Darla has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and has been with KleinBank for over 15 years specializing in commercial lending.
Civic Involvement: Active member of the Waconia Chamber of Commerce, serving as an Ambassador and former Chairperson of the Ambassadors committee. She also volunteers her time for many City of Waconia events and is an active member of Oakwood Community Church in Waconia.

Profession: Greg is Trust President for Security Bank & Trust Company. With over 17 years of experience in the financial services industry, he specializes in providing comprehensive wealth management solutions for the affluent. Greg’s areas of expertise include investment management, trust and fiduciary services. Over the years, Greg has also provided wealth management services for Wells Fargo PCS, St. Cloud, Minnesota, and also for First Trust Company North Dakota, N.A. in Fargo, North Dakota.
Educational and Professional Background: A Minneapolis native, Greg earned his bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Minnesota. Additionally, he holds the designation of CTFA, Certified Trust and Financial Advisor. He, his wife Carla, and daughter Christina reside in Norwood/Young America, MN.
Civic Involvement: Greg has been involved in various volunteer activities, including the Ridgeview Foundation, Centracare Health Foundation and Central Minnesota Community Foundation. Other organizations that Greg has been affiliated with over the years include International Rotary Club, Central Minnesota Estate Plan Council, Glacial Ridge Estate & Financial Planning Council and St. Cloud Technical College Foundation. |

Jeff Laurel

Town of Residence: Hamburg
Profession: Jeff was a co-founder and V.P. of Marketing and Strategic Alliances of HighJump Software, an Eden Prairie based supply chain software and services company. Prior to HighJump, Jeff worked as an industry consultant to manufacturers during a 15-year career with IBM.
Educational and Professional Background: Jeff received a B.A. degree in Economics from St. Olaf College, and an M.A. in Business Administration from Mankato State University. He currently serves on Ridgeview Foundation’s Marketing and Communications Committee.
Jim Leonard

Town of Residence: Chaska/Victoria
Educational and Professional Background: Jim holds degrees in chemistry from University of Wisconsin and a Masters from the University of South Dakota. He taught college chemistry for 10 years, and has 30 years experience in developing and marketing sustainable and renewable building technologies associated with commercial roof coatings and adhesives. He is the holder of two patents. Jim is the co-founder of Elastomeric Roofing Systems, Inc., in 1993, and Prairie Technologies, Inc in 2004, and founding president of the Reflective Roof Coatings Institute (RRCI).
Civic Involvement: Jim and his wife have been residents of the Chaska/Victoria area for 35 years, with five grown children and 13 grandchildren. He has been a member of Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Chanhassen for 30 years.
"Kay has been a volunteer at Ridgeview Hospital for 20+ years, and we have been contributors to the Foundation for the last several years. We have sold our business and are looking for opportunities to continue to contribute in meaningful ways."

Professional Involvement: Peter's specialty is guiding individuals and families through the complexities of equity markets. He has worked with privately owned Fortune 100 and 500 companies to educate executives about financial planning. Peter represents a number of local and national charities, helping philanthropists make informed decisions by educating them about the considerations and implications of gifting to charitable organizations.
“My stepfather lives with Parkinson’s disease and my mother with breast cancer. These events have not only taught me the importance of quality medical care and education, but I also understand the treasure we have with such a great medical facility in our own backyard. I look forward to the opportunity to combine my professional background with my personal experiences to help Ridgeview Medical Center continue to grow and offer excellent care to our community.” |

Profession: Linda has lived in Waconia for most of her adult life. Her husband, John, was partner of Roebke Bratsch, CPA and now works for Drazan Henke & Associates.
Civic Involvement: Linda is very active with not only the Foundation but also several other community groups. Linda has served on numerous committees for Ridgeview. They have two daughters. |

Dan Ross

Profession: Dentist
Educational and Professional Background: Dr. Ross was born in northern Minnesota and was raised on the Mesabi Iron Range near Hibbing, MN. He graduated from Greenway High School in Coleraine, MN in1982. He received a bachelors degree in biology from The College of St. Thomas in St. Paul in 1986. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota in 1990. He spent the first 3 years of his career working in various practice settings such as associateship positions in the Twin Cities and as an employee of the Mille Lacs Ojibwe' reservation. He began practicing in Norwood, MN in 1993 and after working as an associate of Norwood Dental for three and a half years he purchased the practice and shortly after this he also purchased the dental practice of Dr. Bertrum J. McCarthy. His vision for the practice was to provide modern high tech dentistry for Western Carver County. He continues to tirelessly pursue his vision and makes every effort to ensure that his patients have the best experience possible. Dr. Ross enjoys many activities outside of his dental practice. He participates in competitive cycling, hockey and strength training. He is an outdoor enthusiast and has spent many hours backpacking in the Rocky Mountains of Western Montana and the Superior National Forest. He enjoys recording his own music in his home recording studio. He has resided in western Carver County since 1995 with his wife Rebecca. |

Charles E. Spevacek, secretary

Town of Residence: Shorewood
Profession: Senior Partner, Meagher & Geer, P.L.L.P., attorneys-at-law. Chuck has over thirty years experience litigating complex commercial cases, with particular emphasis on the trial and appeal of cases involving the insurance industry. His firm has represented the area's doctors and health care institutions in the defense of malpractice actions since its founding over 80 years ago.
Chuck serves on Meagher & Geer's Management Committee. He is a Litigation Counsel of America Fellow, a trial lawyer honorary society, with membership limited to one-half of one percent of American lawyers, by invitation only.
Civic Involvement: Active member of the legal community, serving as a frequent speaker at Continuing Legal Education seminars and as a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the Defense Research Institute and the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association, where he is co-chair of the Insurance Law Committee.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Purdue Alumni Association and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Center of the American Experiment. Chuck has taught Sunday School at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, and was a youth baseball coach for South Tonka Little League. |

Mark Steingas

Profession: Mark Steingas was born and raised in Minneapolis as the second oldest in a family of four boys. Mark graduated from Minnetonka High School. Mark began his real estate career in 1977 as a residential sales person. In 1984 he started Copperwood Investments in order to concentrate on the commercial/industrial market and to market his strengths in sales, investments, and build-to-suit projects. The opportunity to offer his clients a more complete package of real estate services arose in 1993 with the acquisition of a construction company, Benson-Orth Associates. With a desire to concentrate on the portion of business most enjoyable, Mark transferred ownership of the construction company to an employee in 2009.
Civic Involvement: He has been active in youth sports, Rotary, and Zuhrah Shriners. Mark and his wife Joan live in Excelsior and have two grown daughters |

Larry Wilhelm

Profession: Wilhelm is the owner and president of Custom HBC Corporation, a Waconia-based manufacturer of custom health and beauty products for the promotional industry. Prior to starting Custom HBC, Wilhelm served as president and CEO of Minnetonka Brands, Inc. and Softsoap Enterprises, Inc.
Civic Involvement: “I look forward to having the opportunity to make a positive impact on Ridgeview, an organization that provides such an important service to our community,” said Wilhelm. “Based on my own life experiences, I have personal interests in neonatal care, hospice care and diabetes.” |

Profession: David Windschitl has been in the financial services field since 1996 focusing primarily on residential mortgages. He is currently a Mortgage Consultant for Prime Mortgage.
Civic Involvement: In addition to sitting on the Ridgeview Foundation board David also is a member of the Chanhassen Baseball Association Board of Directors. He is also an active youth coach for his children in the Chanhassen area. He also has helped create and develop the Pride of Chaska group supporting Chaska High Athletics and Activities. ” |
